I’m writing this so that people can know about the terrible mistake I’ve made. Because of it I find myself on the verge of taking my own life. All of this because on that godforsaken black moth…
My name is Ben and a couple of days ago I was having dinner with my mom. Me and my mom are really close, my father didn’t really care about our family, he prefers to just drink and watch football with his friends. My mom was my mother and father at the same time, she was the one who always wanted to play Legos with me, when I was a child, and she also helped me shave my first small teenage moustache, when puberty kicked in. Next month I will be 20 years old, but she is always my trusty advisor and I consider her not only my mom, but my best friend.
That dinner had an unexpected visit, a small pitch-black moth entered through the small window crack of our kitchen. I didn’t really notice it, until my cat, Jimmy, started looking up and quickly chasing it. When my mother noticed this she nervously got up from the kitchen table and quickly tried to make the moth leave from which she entered. I was really intrigued by how nervous my mother was about this and asked her the reason for being like that. She told me that black moths are a bad omen and they are normally associated with bad luck and death. I’m not that superstitious, but I respected my mother’s feelings about it and tried helping her. After almost 10 minutes we finally expelled our unwanted guest out of the kitchen.
After dinner I watched some TV, for no more than an hour, brushed my teeth and went to bed. I got this new job at a warehouse, and it’s pretty rough so I really needed some good shut eye.
At around 3 p.m. I woke up and went to the bathroom, and as I looked into the mirror I saw this black spot… it was none other than that black moth again. This one really liked our house, I thought to myself. I was really sleepy and had to get up early so I just ignored the moth and went back to bed.
When I got to my room I saw that the moth followed me, and it was just flying around, until it landed precisely on my shoulder. This was starting to get on my nerves, so I carefully opened the window of my room and tried to scare the moth away, making as little noise as I could, but this moth was very stubborn and all my attempts to scare her away failed. if I kept going I would probably wake up my parents, so I decided to go to bed and leave it be. As soon as I turned off the lights and tucked myself in bed I felt the moth trying to land on my face. I quickly got up and said to myself “enough is enough”. I grabbed a book that was on my nightstand and as soon as the moth stood still on my wall I smashed it, leaving only a small black stain on it. I was surprised how I didn’t wake up my parents, because of the thundering noise the book made when it hit the wall. I cleaned the stain and quickly went back to bed.
The next day I woke up, and after the usual morning ritual of showering, eating and brushing my teeth I went to work. I always went by bus, because I couldn’t afford a car right now, but I was planning on buying one as soon and I could. My friend Josh also took this bus and we always sat in the back talking about random stuff. As we both accommodated ourselves into the seats, I noticed something strange and disturbing that made my heart fall into my stomach. There was this black shadow man standing in the front seat looking at me, well, it seemed like he was looking at me, but it didn’t really have eyes, or mouth…or anything…it was just a black shadow figure. I nervously told my friend Josh about it, but he gave me the most confused look I have ever seen…and what he said next really freaked me out. Josh told me that the front seat was empty, and that there was no one there. At first, I thought that he was just messing with me, but he was really serious about it, and again told me that he didn’t know what I was talking about. All the people that entered the bus didn’t even notice the shadow figure, it was as if it wasn’t really there…
I started to get more nervous and even closed and opened my eyes several times, but the dark figure wouldn’t go away. Josh asked me if I was alright, and I told him that I would get off on the next stop and walk the rest of the distance to the warehouse I worked in, this was freaking me out.
I got off on that stop and started to walk towards my workplace, taking deep breaths to calm myself, but soon realized that something was following me. As I turned my head to see what it was…all the blood in my body froze due to the fear and panic. The dark shadow figure was just behind me.
