Day One
Finally! I moved into a beautiful cabin in the country, but still have a few a few neighbors. It’s everything I wanted. It’s a nice 2 story house. I’ll start hunting tomorrow, well, less hunting and more “scouting the area”. I’ll write in this book to pass the time while I wait for my TV to get hooked up.
Day two
I found some of the strangest tracks I’ve ever seen! There’s already an adventure to explore! I bought some trail cameras yesterday, so I’ll set those up. I have five, so I can cover the area around my house.
Day three
I spent almost all day looking for whatever made those tracks. It has similar traits to a bear, but was very different at the same time.
Day five
I saw the strangest thing I have probably ever seen in all the time I’ve hunted. At first, they were bear tracks, then, they were wolf tracks, and then they were finally gone. A tree stood in the place where the tracks stopped.
Day seven
I’m now terrified about going outside. On my video camera, I saw my neighbor pull up into my driveway, to do what, I don’t know. Welcome me, perhaps? It doesn’t matter anyway. He got out of his car, and something caught his eye. A golden watch was lying in the driveway. He checked to see if anyone was looking, and tried to grab it. As soon as he did, the watch…transformed. It turned into a horrible, pale, long limbed creature. It grabbed the poor man and effortlessly carried him off into the woods. Don’t you get it? It could be anywhere. Anything. I can’t leave my room.
Day nine
I locked my door, covered the bottom and sat in the corner. It can hear me. It has incredible patience. More than me, I’m afraid. It could do this for a long time, I’m predicting, having just ate. I can’t trust anybody. If it can transform into animals, it makes sense it could turn into people, too.
Day ten
Silence. I have to be silent. I’m grateful of the stash of food and water that I had in my closet.
Day eleven
Silence.
Day twelve
Silence.
Day thirteen
I have to be quiet. Not a sound. They can hear me. I can’t be heard if I don’t make a sound. Steady breathing and my own scribbling on this book are the only sounds I hear.
Day fourteen
I found my gun.
Day fifteen
This may be my last entry. I have two options. Take the my own life, or take the creature’s.
Day twenty two
If you are reading this, it is dead. I finally won.
The prey wasn’t silent.
I was
